AST are a global provider of remote satellite communication solutions; their customers are diverse, spanning 5 continents.
Seeing that the market for satcomms devices was becoming increasingly competitive, AST sought to develop their own products and solutions. Innovations include Integra (a system for controlling data usage on ships) and iRams (ground-breaking telemetry and asset management). A new direction required a new website.
With the theme of ‘global connectivity’ in mind, we were keen to ensure the new site reflected AST’s capabilities, vision and innovative approach.
The project began with a kick-off meeting and client workshop to understand the key aims and objectives, audiences, personas, functionality and scope. Following a research phase, our in-house UX designers worked on a sitemap, wireframes and user journeys – from which the design team were able to create the overall look and feel of each page and component.
Regionalised content optimised by territory, and a content management system for easy administration ensured the site ranked highly in respective regions.
Sites share common components – news, products, solutions, case studies and events – with the ability to select which appear in which regions, allowing for total control and flexibility whilst ensuring performance wasn’t compromised. In addition, a content delivery network helped reduce page load times significantly – wherever users were in the world.
