Widely regarded as the flagship department store in Norwich, shoppers interact with Jarrold across multiple touchpoints. With an extremely busy in-house creative department, they turned to us for creative collaboration on a number of seasonal and one-off projects.
A brand-new look.
In the midst of refurbishment and the arrival of leading brands such as Jo Malone and Kurt Geiger, Jarrold were looking for guidance on their visual identity to ensure their brand continued to shine. Working together, we created a visual identity system incorporating templates for all their advertising, brochure covers, and in-store point of sale. The creative was flexible, clean, yet still unmistakably ‘Jarrold’. Collaboration with the in-house design team was vital and they implemented the creative storewide, creating a cohesive and fresh new look.
Jarrold wanted to recognise and reward the dedication of their loyal customer base and give them the opportunity to join a loyalty scheme offering discounts, vouchers, invitations to customer events and even birthday treats. In contrast to the traditional feel of the Jarrold brand itself, we proposed an approachable softer identity for the ‘friends’ scheme. Alongside a gentle, yet fresh colour palette, a fluid handwritten font for relaxed headlines evolved into linear illustrations. Lifestyle imagery was also important to communicate the community feel of the scheme, ‘say hello to your Jarrold friends’.
