Bringing world-leading research to life through interior graphics and wayfinding

An engaging interior experience designed to inform, inspire and guide visitors

Challenge: The Quadram Institute brings together world-leading research across food science, gut biology, human health and disease, alongside NHS services including one of Europe’s largest endoscopy centres. With members of the public regularly accessing the building, there was an opportunity to use the interior environment to communicate the importance and impact of Quadram’s work, while making the building easier to navigate. The challenge was to translate complex scientific research into accessible and engaging content for a broad public audience, while working within Quadram’s existing brand guidelines and providing clear wayfinding, particularly to the NHS endoscopy unit.

Solution: We developed a suite of interior graphics and wayfinding across the main reception, corridor to the café and café itself. Drawing on Quadram’s existing brand identity, the creative approach established a visual narrative around the Institute’s role in improving human health, food and disease prevention, combining informative content with bold visual communication. Wayfinding was integrated into the overall design to help visitors navigate the building intuitively, while creating engaging moments that encourage people to discover more about Quadram’s research and its real-world impact.

Outcome: The result is an engaging public-facing environment that brings Quadram’s research to life and creates a stronger sense of identity throughout the building. By combining storytelling, education and practical wayfinding, the graphics make complex science more accessible, support a clearer and more positive visitor experience, and provide Quadram with a platform to build greater public understanding of its work and the benefits it delivers to human health and food.
