Supporting student wellbeing with a helpful Welcome Pack

Challenge: The University of Suffolk recognised that positive health and wellbeing were crucial for student success. They sought an effective way to communicate this philosophy to prospective students who had applied for courses, aiming to foster a sense of support even before enrolment.

Solution: We developed a direct mail welcome pack titled ‘It’s all about you’. This pack was thoughtfully curated with a range of treats and inspirational reading materials, drawing inspiration from Mind’s ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’ framework.

Following the initial success of the physical pack, the campaign was expanded for a further 3 years, evolving into the University’s primary recruitment tool. This expansion included a supporting social media campaign and a hybrid pack that featured additional digital content for social posts, webinars, and signposting to virtual online groups, significantly enhancing opportunities for students to connect.

Outcome: The ‘It’s all about you’ welcome pack contributed to a notable increase in offer conversion, with a particularly strong uplift from applicants outside the local area – a critical key performance indicator for the University.

The continued success of the campaign in subsequent years underscored its effectiveness in student recruitment and its role in supporting the University’s commitment to student wellbeing.
