Branding a foundation for greater impact and community connection
Challenge: Norfolk Community Foundation (NCF) connects donors with local communities, funding initiatives that make a difference across Norfolk.
Initially, they approached us to redesign their website – but workshops quickly revealed deeper challenges. The brand lacked clarity: audiences didn’t fully understand NCF’s role, its impact, or its position in the charity landscape. The organisation was often seen as a “middle man” rather than an essential link between donors and communities.
The challenge was to redefine the brand so it clearly communicated purpose, trust and impact – giving NCF the confidence and clarity to lead social change across the county.
Solution: We began by reframing the project from a web redesign to a full brand strategy and identity refresh. Through collaborative workshops, we worked with NCF to uncover their true strengths: local expertise, transparency, and their ability to make every donation go further. These insights shaped a new brand positioning – one that focused on partnership, purpose and progress.
We evolved their visual identity and tone of voice to reflect these qualities, creating a modern, trustworthy and optimistic brand that inspires confidence in both donors and grant seekers. The rebrand was supported by a detailed brand guidelines suite, including templates for brochures, stationery and digital assets – ensuring visual consistency and clarity across all communications.
Outcome: The rebrand gave Norfolk Community Foundation a clear, unified identity that truly reflects who they are: an agent for change and a trusted partner in building stronger communities. By redefining how the organisation presents itself – both visually and verbally – NCF is now better equipped to engage donors, support grant seekers, and demonstrate the impact of its work across Norfolk.
The project laid the foundation for the next phase: a new website designed to extend that clarity and connection online.
